Traditional Worship Service

The Traditional Service at St. John is held Sundays at 9:15 a.m. in the St. John Church sanctuary. This structured worship experience includes Scripture readings, liturgy, hymns, prayers, a sermon, and Holy Communion. Music is led by the choir with classic hymns. A children’s message is part of the service, and a quiet play area is available in the rear of the sanctuary. On certain Sundays, children may leave during worship to participate in Godly Play. Everyone is welcome.

Informal Worship Service

Come Just As You Are is our more informal worship service, offering a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. This service is 5:30 pm on Saturday evenings. Music includes guitars and a variety of styles—blending familiar hymns with more contemporary and folk songs. The service features Scripture, a children’s message, noisy offering, prayer, a sermon, and Holy Communion. Dress is casual so come as you are —all are welcome.

Children & Youth Belong Here

At St. John, children and youth are a joyful and important part of our worship and community life. We are a multigenerational church and believe faith is meant to be celebrated together—young and old side by side. While we offer some age-specific activities, many of our services and events are intentionally designed for all ages to share together.

We love having children in worship and encourage their full participation. A children’s sermon helps share God’s Word in ways they can understand, and they take up the “noisy offering,” collecting coins and bills that go directly to support local individuals and families in need. We offer special communion grape juice so they can participate alongside their families. For younger ones, a dedicated quiet play area and busy bags are available during the service, and on certain Sundays, children may attend Godly Play for a hands-on faith experience.

At St. John, children and youth aren’t just welcomed—they truly belong.

Celebrating the Church Year Together

Throughout the year at St. John, we gather for meaningful special services that mark the seasons of the Church and the rhythms of life. From the reverent foot washing of Maundy Thursday to the joyful celebration of Holy Humor Sunday, these services invite us to experience our faith in unique and memorable ways. We prepare our hearts for Advent with the Hanging of the Greens and Chrismons, celebrate Easter sunrise at Children’s Lake with our community, celebrate God’s blessing and provision with Harvest Home, celebrate the gift of music on Music Sunday, and honor our heritage on Reformation Sunday. We also offer special moments of blessing—such as the Blessing of the Pets and the Blessing of the Seeds and Soil—recognizing God’s care in every part of creation. These gatherings, and many others throughout the year, enrich our worship life and strengthen our community.

Communion is Served at Both Services

Our communion is an OPEN communion. It is open to all those who have faith in or of Jesus Christ. Wine and grape juice are available at the Traditional Service - grape juice only is served at the Come as you Are service.
