A Summer of Faith, Fellowship, and Community at St. John Lutheran Church

As summer begins to wind down, we are grateful for the many ways God has blessed our congregation and our community over the past few months.

Our congregation enjoyed meaningful Outdoor Worship Services, gathering together in God's beautiful creation for worship, prayer, and fellowship.

St. John was also active in serving our community. We distributed free bottled water during Foundry Day and Anything Floats, offering a refreshing drink, a friendly smile, and a reminder that God's love is shared through simple acts of kindness.

Our annual Fun Fest was another wonderful success, bringing together neighbors, families, and friends for a day filled with fun, food, fellowship, and community spirit.

This summer, we were delighted to welcome DeLeigh Wilson as our new organist. We are thankful to have her share her musical gifts with our congregation and look forward to worshiping together for many years to come.

We also had the opportunity to surprise Pastor Cover with a special birthday celebration. It was a joyful time to thank her for her faithful leadership, compassionate heart, and dedication to our church family.

Our Chicken BBQ was another highlight of the summer. Thanks to the incredible support of our congregation and the community, we raised more than $1,100 for local food banks, helping provide meals and hope to neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

Our Community Garden continues to flourish, producing an abundance of fresh vegetables that are shared with those in need throughout our community. It is a beautiful example of how God's blessings grow when they are cultivated and shared with others.

One of the many ways we were able to serve this summer was by lending a helping hand to our community partners. After Jason Maddox from the United Way accepted the leftover items from our rummage sale, he asked Kathy B. if St. John volunteers could assist with unloading several tractor-trailer loads of donated goods and sorting items for the U Turn Sale held at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Our volunteers were happy to help, continuing the spirit of service and giving that extends beyond our own church.

As we look ahead to the fall season, we thank everyone who volunteered, participated, donated, and supported the many ministries and events that made this summer so memorable. Together, we continue to live out Christ's call to love God, serve our neighbors, and grow in faith.

Thank you for being part of the St. John family. We look forward to all that God has in store for the months ahead. There's always a place for you at St. John Lutheran Church, and we invite you to join us for worship, fellowship, and service.
