Who We Are

St. John is a growing rural/suburban Lutheran church serving the greater Boiling Springs area.

We believe the most important priority of our church is to continue Christ’s mission to make disciples: know Jesus and make Jesus known.

What We Believe

As a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we believe that we are freed by the grace of Christ to live faithfully, to serve and love our neighbor.

With our hands, we do God’s work of restoring and reconciling individuals and communities in Jesus Christ’s name throughout the world.

Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Virginia Cover has been serving as the interim pastor at St. John since January of 2024. The church is in the process of calling a new pastor. Read our Ministry Site Profile.

Nawakwa is seeking host families for our international counselors this summer! They will arrive on Memorial Day weekend and need transportation to camp every Sunday afternoon (around noon) and pickup on Friday evenings (between 6–8 pm). Host families provide a welcoming home, meals, and may also offer weekend activities, such as a visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield.

If you're interested in hosting, please contact Kelsey Tomlinson, Director of Nawakwa, at ktomlinson@lutherancamping.org or call the camp office at (717) 677-8211.

Home Sewers Needed

Kits with blocks cut are ready to be picked up for sewing. All are welcome to join the group on workdays to tie knot quilts, no skill required. Anyone can tie a knot. We currently have a good supply of fabrics to make many more quilts for those in need at home and abroad.

Easter Party FUN

Pretzels for Lent

St. John friends gathered for a bit of Lenten fun on Sunday after church. Vanessa taught us that pretzels are shaped like us when we hold our arms across our chest. That position was used when praying in the early days of the church. She then taught us how to roll and shape the dough into a pretzel.

While Vanessa and Jody were baking the pretzels, Jimmy and Olivia helped the children build things with 40 blocks, create a prayer paper chain with names of people we wanted to pray for, and plant tulip bulbs to watch for signs of new life the spring.

It was a fun-filled time with lots of hands-on learning about lent!

At St. John Church, Ellie Swank and her team hosted a Ukrainian Pysanky Egg decorating workshop. Participants were invited to join with a suggested donation of $25 per person, which included a light luncheon. The event was a great success, raising over $300 for Ukraine relief efforts.
